Middle School Ballet

General Information

Students must be at least 10 years old by October 1

Girls leotard Color | Light Blue

Middle School Ballet is suitable for young dancers who are starting ballet for the first time a little later in their childhood. The teachers adapt the class to the level of the group, teaching them the most important elements of balletic placement, port de bras (carriage of the arms), turnout, and foot usage, while also introducing and/or reviewing the basic elements of the jumping work, or petit allegro. All attempts are made to prepare the students to move ahead several levels at the end of the year.

General Information

Weekly Commitment: 3-4 classes per week

Level 3 Ballet is a very challenging level. The technique focuses on the strength needed to get students ready for pointe work in Level 4. This Level brings the first “End of Year Evaluation” and possible invitation to the Pre-Professional Division, which will require participation in all offered ballet classes.

Hand in Hand is designed for 2.5 years-old dancers, to participate with their parents or caregivers. The class focuses on discovering the world of rhythm and dance through gentle exercises while developing social, emotional and physical skills, and having fun!

Session 1: September 9, 2025 – November 2, 2025

Session 2: November 3, 2025 – January 25, 2026

Session 3: January 26, 2026 – March 22, 2026

Session 4: March 23, 2026 – May 30, 2026

$180 per 8-week session (Missed classes may not carry over into the next session.)

Children’s Division

Balanced with creative movement and musical improvisation, children learn the basics of classical ballet technique and proper body alignment to build safe habits for future work.

Princeton Ballet School’s Children’s Division includes ages 3 through 7 (Hand in Hand to Primary C). PBS students may have the opportunity to perform alongside American Repertory Ballet professional artists in productions such as The Nutcracker. 

Auditions are NOT required for the PBS Spring Performance. Dancers from Primary B and Primary C who are interested in participating would just need to register to perform.

Hand in Hand
