Princeton Ballet Workshop FAQs
Princeton Ballet Workshop (PBW) is the pre-professional performance program of Princeton Ballet School. There are two divisions within the program:
PBW Juniors and PBW Seniors.
This program offers students an experience of the performance life of a professional dancer: commitment to classes; thorough rehearsals; costume fittings; many aspects of production; stagecraft; time management of school and theater schedules; performance etiquette; and performance. Admission is by audition.
The PBW Jrs are dancers, ages 12+, in one of the following levels: Level 5, Level 6, and Level 7 Academy. There are two divisions within these levels: Pre-Professional and Academy. Dancers enrolled in the Pre-Professional division may register for PBW Jr at the time they register for their Princeton Ballet technique classes. Dancers registering for classes in the Academy division must wait until after the scheduled audition before being permitted to register and pay for participation in PBW Jr.
Note: All PBW dancers, regardless of division, must attend the PBW audition as this is when Nutcracker roles appropriate to skill level will be assigned.
All students considering participation in Princeton Ballet Workshop are required to audition. Once accepted, they are required to maintain attendance in their technique classes, as well as attend weekend rehearsals as called:
- Level 5 Academy: Minimum two technique classes per week.
- Level 6 Academy: Minimum three techniques classes per week.
- Level 7 Academy: Three technique classes per week.
PBW Jrs have the option of participating in both the fall and spring seasons. Participation in American Repertory Ballet’s professional production of the Nutcracker will be by audition.
PBW Srs are student dancers 14–18 yrs old in Levels 7 and 8, two of the three most advanced levels in Princeton Ballet School. Our highly respected Trainee program which encompasses both national and international, post-secondary school dancers is also part of the PBW Sr program.
- Level 7 Pre-Professional: Five technique classes per week.
- Level 8 Conservatory: Five technique classes per week.
Full year participation is required of PBW Srs. Participation in American Repertory Ballet’s professional production of the Nutcracker will be by audition.
Dancers in PBW Sr must attend the PBW audition where Nutcracker roles appropriate to skill level will be assigned.
Question: How much does it cost?
